Critical jet engine components require a controlled inspection process where capacity, repeatability, traceability and operator safety are essential.
FinnSonic automatic FPI lines combine component handling, automated treatment stages, process monitoring and data collection into one controlled system.
Automated FPI processing for critical jet engine components
FinnSonic automatic FPI lines support the safe and efficient processing of critical jet engine components. Automated material handling, controlled treatment stages and process data collection form one integrated system designed for high-capacity aviation FPI operations.
Efficient handling for multiple components
Components can be processed in baskets or individually in purpose-designed racks. The automatic conveyor handles several baskets simultaneously while the control system manages the treatment stage of each batch.
This increases process capacity, reduces manual handling and supports an efficient flow between the different FPI stages.
Controlled application and process parameters
Jet pressure, treatment temperatures and treatment times are monitored automatically throughout the process. Electrostatic application of penetrant and developer supports even coverage while helping reduce chemical consumption.
By controlling critical parameters within the system, the line supports consistent processing and reduces the risk of variation caused by manual operation.
Integrated pre- and post-cleaning
Pre-cleaning and post-inspection cleaning stages can be integrated into the FPI line. The cleaning process can utilise FinnSonic ultrasonic cleaning technology to prepare components for inspection and remove process chemicals afterwards.
Integrating cleaning and FPI into the same line creates a coordinated process in which component cleanliness and inspection readiness are controlled from the beginning.
Traceable process data for quality assurance
Process data is collected automatically for every batch and can be reviewed after processing. This supports quality assurance by providing documented information about how components were treated during the process.
Reviewable batch data also supports process traceability, repeatability and audit readiness in demanding aviation FPI environments.
Designed for a safer working environment
The line’s safety enclosure reduces noise and helps prevent vapours and odours from spreading into the surrounding production environment.
An integrated vapour extraction system can also be added to support controlled air extraction without the need for a separate ventilation connection.
